Career Services for Life

Whether your student is exploring majors, searching for internships, applying to graduate school or looking for a full time job, Career Services offers resources to help with the process.

What do the Patriots, Disney, Suffolk County DA’s Office, Mohegan Sun, Target and EMC have in common? These are just a few locations where Nichols students have interned. Internships provide students with the opportunity to put their class work into practice, explore a specific career or business, and develop a network of contacts. Some concentrations such as Sport Management and Business Communication require internships as part of their program requirements. Because of the added advantage it gives to students in their job search, Nichols encourages all students to complete at least one internship.

Professional Development Seminar (PDS) helps with resume writing and job interviewing

Nichols signature PDS program is one of the major reasons our students excel at their internships and job interviews. The first year PDS coursework helps students transition into the college environment and learn successful study skills. During their junior and senior years, students learn how to present themselves professionally and be positioned for internships and their first job. Students create multiple resumes, participate in mock interviews and prepare a portfolio of their college work to present.

A student’s comments about the PDS program

“The PDS sharpened my professional skills. My internship supervisor was extremely impressed with my interviewing skills, especially with the questions I asked- an area that is stressed in the PDS. I also can’t say enough about the support we received for resume construction.”
