Michael Battaini, a Nichols College senior, was recognized by Northwestern Mutual as one of the Top 100 Financial Representative Interns in the country during the fall/winter semester. The Top 100 Interns were invited to a Winter Camp, from February 27 – 29, in Milwaukee, Wis., to learn from top financial representatives, advisors, and leaders in the Northwestern Mutual system. Participants will network and connect with other interns across the country, as well as create goals and a vision for future career success.

Battaini credits Nichols College with preparing him for this opportunity, detailing that “learning how to present and speak effectively has played the biggest role in preparing me for my internship. It made me comfortable being uncomfortable and developed my ability to perform under pressure.”

When asked about his experience, Battaini says, “My experience has been incredible up to this point. I’m lucky enough to run my own financial planning practice, so it’s up to me to make sure I’m productive. A typical day for me involves meeting with prospective clients to discuss their financial needs and goals and developing financial plans custom-tailored to the needs of each client. I also do a lot of networking and have weekly meetings with my mentor who coaches me.”

Battaini’s goal is to continue with the Northwestern Mutual as a full-time employee following his graduation this May.

“I learned how to be myself on the Hill at Nichols College,” he sums up. “I learned that, at the end of the day, hard work and a good attitude can take you far in whatever you pursue.”
