At Nichols College, experiential learning is more than a requirement—it's embedded in how students learn.

From day one, students are asked to solve real problems, work with real organizations and make real decisions, not just complete classroom exercises. Through hands-on projects, internships and real-world challenges, students connect classroom theory with practice to build the skills needed to lead in a global and fast-changing world.

Located in Dudley, MA, on the border of Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island, Nichols College provides access to regional business, nonprofit and government partners across Central Massachusetts, Worcester County and beyond—giving students the professional context and community connections that extend well beyond graduation.

Learn Through Student-Run Enterprises

Experiential learning at Nichols includes opportunities to take part in student-run campus enterprises that mirror real business operations. Through the Bison Consulting Group, students work as paid consultants, collaborating with real clients on projects involving operations, marketing and bookkeeping. At the Dudley Hill Golf Club, students take on meaningful leadership responsibilities, helping manage daily operations, overseeing the Bison Den clubhouse and supporting competitive club golf—all within a college-owned facility adjacent to campus.

Learn Through On-Campus Employment

Experiential learning also happens through traditional campus roles. Nichols students can apply their skills in paid campus jobs, student leadership positions and programs like resident assistantships and the Student Government Association—all of which build communication, management and organizational skills while strengthening the Nichols community.

Learn Through Student-Faculty Collaboration and Research

Nichols students gain valuable experiential learning through close collaboration with faculty on research and applied projects. Students may assist professors with scholarly research, contribute to applied studies or support community-based initiatives—building skills in research methods, analysis, writing and presentation. These collaborations have led to conference presentations, résumé-ready experience and in some cases, scholarly publication. Recent examples include students coauthoring academic research, supporting faculty-led financial literacy programs and contributing to applied research in sport management and economics.

Learn Beyond the Classroom with Global Learning

Nichols College encourages students to think and act globally. Through faculty-led study abroad programs and international partnerships, students gain exposure to different cultures and business environments—from studying entrepreneurship in London to exploring leadership in Costa Rica. These global learning experiences provide new perspectives that shape confident, adaptable leaders ready to thrive in an interconnected world.
