He is the former Director of Rowing Programs for Riverfront Recapture, working for the Hartford nonprofit from 1998 - 2018. Supporting the organizational mission to recapture the once neglected riverfront for community use, he grew the rowing program to serve over 650 people annually.
Brian is also the co-founder and former Director of the Head of the Riverfront Regatta, a sporting event with almost 3,000 competitors and 10,000 spectators. He has coached medal winning crews at the Head of the Charles, the worlds largest two-day regatta, and his rowers have competed on the US Junior National Team. He has taught hundreds of beginners, ranging from 81-year-old blind veterans to Adaptive rowers to seventh grade inner-city students.
Prior to joining Riverfront, Brian earned concurrent masters degrees at Iowa State University in Ames, IA, and coached in Seattle under the boat-builder and former Olympic rowing coach, Stan Pocock.
