Dr. Cornelius Smith joined Nichols in the fall of 2014. As a graduate instructor at Purdue University, Dr. Smith taught courses on American politics and political parties for the Political Science department, introductory courses in the Women’s Studies program, and U.S. history courses for the History department. Additionally, she taught American and World history courses at Indiana University Southeast and Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.

Classes usually taught, depending on the semester:
Her research interests include women’s citizenship and political activism through transnational social organizations, civic bodies, and educational institutions in the early 20th century. She has also conducted research on the partnerships among women in the U.S. and Czechoslovakia and presented her results in the U.S. and Europe.
Dr. Cornelius Smith enjoys travelling, visiting local attractions with her family and dog and is hoping to become a successful gardener. A former cookie decorator, she loves baking cookies and cupcakes.
