Students staff Super Bowl LX as part of a Nichols College course

Super Bowl LX

It’s an opportunity of a lifetime. Students taking the Super Bowl Practicum course at Nichols College are serving as members of the operations staff for the Super Bowl LX Experience for Super Bowl LX, spending an entire week in the Bay Area and working at Levi’s Stadium during the big game on Sunday, February 8. The students are accompanied by Assistant Professor of Sport Management Christopher Streeter, who has organized the opportunity for Nichols students for the fifth consecutive year. This year will have added excitement as the Patriots will compete in this year’s contest.

The group is enrolled in Sport Management 297: Super Bowl Practicum. In addition to being in the center of the Super Bowl action, students spend a semester in the classroom. The course, taught by Streeter, is designed to give students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in sport. Course objectives include exploring key concepts in sport finance, management, marketing, sociology and the Super Bowl; examining its historical foundations; career pathways in the sport industry; the expectations of sport managers at the amateur and professional levels; and developing skills in delivering effective team briefings on selected sport issues.

Nichols has partnered with the NFL Super Bowl Host Committee since 2020. Students attended Super Bowls in Miami (2020), Glendale, AZ (2023), Las Vegas (2024) and New Orleans (2025); their 2021 and 2022 trips were canceled due to COVID-19. The Nichols partnership is the only one of its kind among colleges and universities in New England.

“We want this to be a resume builder for them, but two for me, we really want to inspire them,” Streeter told WCVB news in a recent story about the experience.

The students’ enthusiasm for the hands-on learning experience at the Super Bowl is palpable.

“I knew this is going to be an opportunity of a lifetime,” Sofia Calabro ’27 told WCVB.

“I am beyond thrilled […] that I will be working alongside the NFL for this year’s Super Bowl in San Francisco! I personally cannot wait to see the impact an event like this holds for the city,” said Tony Nakis ’26 upon being selected for the trip.

Students working the Super Bowl Experience and the game itself on Sunday perform a variety of roles, such as handing out memorabilia, helping attendees find their way to their seats or attractions, operating and managing lines for meet and greets and other fan experiences, and working alongside athletes and celebrities over the weekend.
