WESTBOROUGH, Mass.—Kerry Calnan, executive director of Nichols College Graduate & Professional Studies in Dudley, Mass., has been elected to the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She was introduced as a board member at Corridor Nine’s annual meeting Thursday, May 17, at Charter Oak Country Club in Hudson. Her first board meeting will be Thursday, June 7.

“As Nichols College has established a location in Marlborough, I am honored to be elected to the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and look forward to being a proactive participant in helping it to promote economic development in the region,” said Calnan.

Corridor Nine encompasses the MetroWest/Route 9-area towns of Marlborough, Northborough, Shrewsbury, Southborough, and Westborough. Incorporated in 2003, its mission is to be a dynamic regional business organization that strives to promote growth, prosperity, and quality of life for its members and communities.

Karen J. Chapman, president and CEO of Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce, congratulated Calnan on being elected to the board.

“I am very excited to welcome Kerry Calnan to the Board of Directors of Corridor Nine,” said Chapman. “With her industry experience in the corporate world, combined with her current role for Nichols College, Kerry brings key leadership to helping develop and grow the Corridor Nine Chamber.”

In addition to leading Nichols College’s Graduate & Professional Studies—overseeing its four graduate degrees as well as certificate and corporate programs—Calnan serves on the College’s faculty as an associate professor of accounting and finance and is currently in the final year of coursework in Sacred Heart University’s DBA in Finance program. She anticipates defending her dissertation in May 2019. Previously, Calnan served as director of the Elms College MBA program in Chicopee, Mass., and held a tenured faculty position as associate professor of accounting. She earned an MBA from Western New England University and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Westfield State University. Calnan holds a professional license as a certified management accountant and spent 10 years in corporate accounting and finance positions prior to becoming an educator. Her industry experience includes ABB, as a division controller for a $150 million domestic and international business unit in the United States. Calnan serves on the IACBE Board of Commissioners, the Maastricht School of Management Faculty Advisory Board in The Netherlands, and the Massachusetts chapter for the American Council on Education.

Nichols College at Marlborough will offer graduate courses this fall at the Massachusetts International Academy at 280 Locke Drive, off Interstate 495, in Marlborough. Courses will be offered through Nichols GPS.

“I’m proud that Nichols College is a member of this community,” Calnan said. “Nichols has brought an industry-leading business education to Marlborough, and we’re excited to offer affordable evening classes that will get students in the MetroWest region started, or to help them continue the path to a graduate degree.”

Busy adults seeking a graduate degree will find that enrolling in Nichols courses in Marlborough—in the heart of the economically thriving MetroWest region and conveniently located near Interstates 495, 290, and 90 (Massachusetts Turnpike)—gives them greater choice and flexibility to continue their education—and to advance their career. Seven-week, accelerated core business courses will be offered Thursdays starting in September at 6 p.m. for 90 minutes in Marlborough. New students who enroll for fall 2018 at Marlborough will receive 10 percent off their tuition.

Nichols College will hold an information session and ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, May 31, to celebrate its Marlborough location. The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Apex Entertainment, 21 Apex Drive.

The public is welcome to attend and learn about Nichols undergraduate adult programs and graduate degrees as well as educational partnership opportunities. Network with Nichols faculty and local business leaders, and enjoy free use of Apex Entertainment’s golf and sports simulators. Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar will be provided.
