Director of Residence Life


The Director of Residence Life is responsible for providing the leadership, vision and administration of the Residence Life Department. The Director provides fiscal management for department budget; supervises professional and support staff, ensuring efficient operations and programming, and ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards, and laws. The Director will continually seek new and collaborative methods to create an active living/learning environment that encourages mutual respect, accountability and civility.


Masters Degree in Student Personnel or related area required. Residence life and judicial affairs experience needed, including the ability to provide strong leadership and effective supervision. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong aptitude for a variety of computer applications and software programs (Datatel, Perspective, CCure).


  1. Coordinate a comprehensive residence life program housing approximately 935 students in ten residence halls.
  2. Evaluate and assess College housing occupancy, retention, and projection trends; oversee the residential facilities to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy living environment; confirms that all room assignments and billings are completed and communicated to students.
  3. Selection, training, supervision and evaluation of a Housing Coordinator, Area Coordinators and Graduate Resident Directors.
  4. Responsible for administration and oversight of the departmental budget and all housing related processes (e.g. room selection/assignments, damage billing, etc.).
  5. Co-coordinate the student judicial process, training Residence Life department staff in judicial matters, policies, procedures and maintain/update Student Code of Conduct and Housing Regulations. Serve as a high level case administrator.
  6. Present at various Admissions related events such as Open Houses, Orientation and Accepted Students’ Receptions.
  7. Available for emergency response as well as evenings and weekends as needed, in collaboration with Dean of Students.
  8. Develop, coordinate and oversee the completion of all departmental publications, including web pages, staff manuals and brochures.
  9. Seek out and/or facilitate collaborative projects with Athletics, Student Involvement, faculty, Student Government Association, etc. in areas that will assist in student growth and development.
  10. Through the AD and GRD’s, provide on-going programming in the residence halls that is dynamic and meets the needs of the residents and/or the entire community.
  11. Liaison with Facilities Management and Public Safety departments concerning health and safety of the residence halls.
  12. Coordinate all job searches for departmental staff
  13. Coordinate with external services (e.g. laundry service, etc) as required.
  14. Maintain professional affiliation and involvement with the Worcester Residence Life Network, NEACUHO and ACUHO-i.
  15. Serve on administrative committees as assigned by the President or the Dean.
  16. The Director is required to live within 30 minutes of campus for emergency response unless otherwise arranged with the Dean. On campus but private housing may be available.
  17. Assume additional responsibilities as needed/assigned.

Associate Director of Development

Nichols College, a small, private institution which prepares students for successful careers in business seeks a seasoned professional to join a dynamic Advancement team. Nichols College is located just south of Worcester, about one hour’s drive from Boston, Providence, Hartford and Springfield.

The Associate Director is responsible for cultivating and soliciting 125-150 prospects, managing a planned gift marketing campaign, and working closely with the Advancement staff and campus leaders to develop and implement strategies to close gift commitments.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of experience in fundraising, preferably in a higher education environment. Candidates who thrive in a metrics driven environment with a track record of successful moves management are especially desired. This position reports to the Vice-President for Advancement and offers a generous benefits package.
