The former Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor will address a wide range of topics including the importance of state and local partnerships, the transformation of the role of the Lieutenant Governor in the Commonwealth, and the opportunities and challenges that women face in business today.

“We are honored to host former Lt. Sulmasy, JD, LL.M. “As the top female executive in the Commonwealth for eight years, Ms. Polito helped guide our state through the Covid-19 pandemic, one of the most challenging moments in our history, and worked with business leaders to help them survive and eventually thrive in the post-pandemic world. Former Lt. Governor Polito’s message will resonate with our entire Nichols College community, especially members of our Institute for Women’s Leadership which empowers our female students with opportunities and mentorship to build strong careers.”

“I’m thrilled to join the Nichols College community for a discussion on how to make our Commonwealth stronger, political discourse better, and empower women in leadership,” said Polito. “As Lt. Governor, and today, I am driven to encourage women to pursue leadership roles and I am grateful to Nichols College and the Institute for Women’s Leadership for their work.”

As Lt. Governor, Ms. Polito visited all 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts to strengthen state & local partnerships. She also helped to reorganize 12 economic development grant programs, and championed STEM Education, allowing young women and minorities to “see themselves in STEM.”

Ms. Polito introduced innovative approaches to combating domestic violence, establishing a tool kit that empowers local law enforcement and victims to identify abuse and hold offenders accountable.

Prior to her election as Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, Ms. Polito was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and a Partner at Milton, Laurence & Dixon, LLP. Since leaving the statehouse in early 2023, Ms. Polito has served as a Principal of the Polito Development Corporation, a commercial real estate development firm.
