High School Partnerships

High School students preparing for competition at Nichols College.

Competition Preparedness

Here at Nichols, we emphasize experiential learning, so we partnered with local high school business programs, including DECA and FBLA chapters, and student skill development programs, like SkillsUSA. These organizations are great resources for both aspiring business students and liberal arts students looking to learn the professional skills employers demand.

Both DECA and FBLA are business focused organizations that teach students the fundamental skills of entrepreneurship, marketing, management, business, finance, and hospitality industries, while SkillsUSA helps develop students into well-rounded professional candidates. We are proud to host local high school DECA, FBLA, and SkillsUSA clubs here at Nichols to help polish their skills for their annual district, regional, national, and international competitions, and prepare them for their professional future.

Bloomberg Program

Bloomberg is one of the top global technology and information companies used by Wall Street professionals. As part of our commitment to upcoming business leaders, we have opened our doors for high school business classes to visit the Bloomberg Experiential Trading room. Students have full access to practice the tools and software used by financial experts. The trade room is available throughout the day, as well as after school for teachers looking for practice incorporating Bloomberg to their lesson plan.

Accelerator Program

Our Accelerator Program allows local high school students to explore their passions in college-level courses, and acquire skills that will help them succeed not only in college but also in their remaining high school courses. One class is taught each semester on our campus allowing students to experience a college campus atmosphere and earn college credits at the same time. The Accelerator Program courses are taught by our experienced Nichols College faculty members with the help of a teaching assistant.

Articulation Agreements

We take pride in helping to grow our community. We have partnered with local high schools to offer specialized courses for students that allows them to gain both Nichols and high school credit. The courses offered are specifically designed for our Accounting and Hospitality undergraduate programs, and we’re looking forward to new similar opportunities to open in the future.

Honors Academy Program

We believe it’s important to recognize high school students who work their hardest and achieve the highest level of success, so we launched two ‘Academic Honors Academies’ with local high schools, Bartlett and Northbridge High. The competitive enrollment process starts as early as 9th grade and dual enrollment is offered to juniors and seniors. We also give Honors Academy students the opportunity to attend any activity held at Nichols, as we aim to give our NHA students the chance to practice leadership initiatives, challenge themselves, and provide a connection for them to gain the most from their future. Fully transferable 3-credit courses and workshops are offered each academic year, and all credits can be applied to almost any college, including Nichols if they chose to become a part of the Bison Herd!
