 SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR

Nichols College, a small, private, NCAA DIII institution is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Sports Information Director.  This is a 12 month fulltime position reporting to the Director of Athletics. Nichols College is located just south of Worcester, MA and is within an hour’s drive from Boston, Providence, Hartford and Springfield.

This appointment is charged with publicizing the College’s athletics department, coaches and student-athletes as well as maintaining all statistical and record information. The SID is in charge of all facets of game management, dealing with the media and maintaining an athletics website.

 WEBMASTER

Nichols College seeks a Webmaster who will ensure that the Nichols College web site continuously contains current, visually appealing, accurate, and relevant information for the various constituencies that visit the site. 

Distinguishing Characteristics

• This person must have a strong knowledge of web tools and best practices.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks/projects concurrently.
• Ability to communicate across all departments and organization levels on campus.

Essential Job Functions:

• Work with the marketing staff to insure that the web site maintains an appealing image.
• Work with end-user departments to assist them in maintaining the currency of content on their respective web pages.
• Analyze web logs to help departments understand hits on key marketing and content pages.
• Develop and/or update data collection forms as required to support the various recruitment and student/alumni service initiatives; and insure integration of data with appropriate back-end systems.
• Administer security/management/organization of the content management system.
• Monitor content of the Nichols College web site to insure that all information is current and accurate.
• Provide the college with insight on new technologies and opportunities in web management and publishing.
• As necessary, provide off-hours support to address problems or perform system upgrades or support.
• Insure all departments adhere to page style guidelines, as defined by the Marketing team.
• Provide training sessions, as necessary, to users of the content management system.

Marginal Job Functions:

• Provide supplemental support for other functions in the Information Technology department, as necessary.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, ASP, ASP.NET, Visual Basic, IIS, Flash.
• Experience with MS Access and MS SQL Server databases a plus.
• Experience with popular website analytics packages a plus.
• Experience with content management systems preferred; experience with OmniUpdate CMS a plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Bachelors degree, or equivalent work experience, required.

Assistant Professor of English

An Assistant Professor of English, specializing in writing pedagogy for first-year students, is needed at Nichols College for the 2008-2009 academic year. 

Candidates should be able to demonstrate interest and success in teaching undergraduate writing courses, particularly Expository Writing. Additionally, the position includes assignments in our Current Issues Symposium program.  The ability to teach Effective Speaking would also be helpful. 

Other duties include student advising, conducting scholarly work, and active involvement in the Nichols College community.

A Ph.D. is required in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or Writing.

The position is a renewable, three-year, non-tenure track appointment.  However, it may be transferred to tenure-track after three years, depending upon performance and institutional need.  Please send letter of interest, vita, teaching evaluations, sample syllabi, and addresses and phone numbers of three references to:
