Susan M. Wayman

A former Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV) with experience in linguistics and publishing, Professor Wayman brings her varied experiences into the classroom. She has written grants for non-profit development in the Ukraine and West Africa and she piloted an experimental linguistics program for Houghton Mifflin. Professor Wayman is fluent in French and conversational in Russian. She has traveled for work to 18 countries where she has given professional presentations or participated in field studies. Wayman currently oversees Nichols Office for International Engagement, writes compliance policy and acts as DSO on campus. Her tenure as Director of the Fischer Institute allows her to collaborate with Nichols most dedicated faculty and students to bring speakers and events to campus.

Professor Wayman’s research interests include non-immigrant policy, international cultures and creative thinking.

  • Culture Coach, Crimean Small Business Corporate Governance project sponsored by Canadian AID and World Bank
  • DSO, Department of Homeland Security international student and scholar compliance officer at Nichols College

In her spare time, Professor Wayman enjoys kayaking, cake decorating, and graphic design.
