A highly acclaimed national security law expert experienced in academic, law, and government service settings, President Glenn M. Sulmasy provides a distinguished 24-year record of Higher Education leadership and academic achievement to Nichols College.

He comes to the Hill from Bryant University, where he distinguished himself in a myriad of ways. His visionary, enthusiastic leadership style transformed the academic programs and climate at Bryant. Sulmasy introduced and implemented a myriad of new programs, concentrations, and pedagogical approaches including an online Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Data Science degree, a fully accredited (and nationally ranked) Physician Assistant (PA) Program, established the Center for Teaching Excellence, and has expanded the School of Health Sciences. Academic rankings for Bryant University surged during his tenure. The signature interdisciplinary program for the University, International Business, was ranked in the top 25 in the nation by US News and World Report for the past two years in a row.
President Sulmasy is a professor of law where his research is centered upon national security, constitution law, and international law. He has delivered over 100 lectures at universities, think tanks, and academic/legal organizations over his career. He also served as a National Security and Human Rights Fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard University.
Currently, President Sulmasy is a visiting fellow at the National Security Law Institute (NSLI) at George Mason University School of Law. In addition to lecturing extensively on the law of armed conflict, international law, and national security matters, he is widely published on national security matters, and served as a subject matter expert/commentator in myriad media outlets. Sulmasy has been featured in the LA Times, on CBS News Radio, National Public Radio, CNN International, US News & World Report, the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle, Al-Jazeera America, MSNBC, Fox News and numerous other national media outlets. He is the author of The National Security Court System – A Natural Evolution of Justice in an Age of Terror (Oxford University Press) and Co-Editor of International Law Challenges – Homeland Security and Combating Terrorism (2005).
Sulmasy was educated at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, University of Baltimore School of Law (cum laude), UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and the Harvard Kennedy School. He is a proud lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the Harvard Club of New York City, and the Bretton Woods Club (New Hampshire).
President Sulmasy, his wife Marla, and seven children hail from Old Lyme, CT and Dudley, MA.
