Mark Naigles

Before coming to teach at Nichols, Professor Naigles worked professionally as an actuary for 19 years at five different companies. He teaches most math classes, but his particular passion is Calculus. His favorite part of teaching is when students tell him, “That was easy!” Professor Naigles recently co-authored the textbook entitled, PProblem SSSolving, 3rd edition.

Professor Naigles teaches the following courses:

  • College Algebra
  • Statistics
  • Calculus I
  • Calculus II
  • Probability Theory
  • Actuarial Math


His hobbies include shopping for and preparing food. He is also a Star Trek fan.

Professor Naigles has taught at a summer math camp at UConn as part of the KAST program (Kids are Scientists Too).

A little known fact is that in 2004, Professor Naigles and his family lived in Istanbul, Turkey for a year where he learned to speak Turkish and to cook Turkish food.
