Assistant Director of Financial Aid

JOB SUMMARY: To assist the Director of Financial Aid in the administration of all Federal, State and Institutional Financial Aid

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years experience in a college environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Superb organizational skills and attention to detail mandatory. Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Must be capable of working independently as well as working in conjunction with others (including staff from the Business Office and Admissions) to foster a team-oriented environment. Initiative, problem solving capabilities and persistence required. Colleague/Datatel experience preferred.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will:

  • Manage a caseload of students with respect to preparing awards, adjustments, need analysis, verification and counseling students and parents.
  • Manage the Direct Loan Program and Pell Grant Program, including reconciliation.
  • Monitor the work-study program.
  • Perform exit interviews and perform analysis on average debt of graduating students.
  • Provide assistance to the Director in identifying students not meeting satisfactory academic progress, perform satisfactory academic progress review for financial aid recipients and coordinate and conduct financial aid appeals meetings.
  • Participate in open houses and accepted student day events.
  • Update the communications section of the software as needed.
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Director of Financial Aid.

PHYSICAL JOB COMPONENTS:

  • Light to moderate lifting of files, supplies, boxes of literature and office materials
  • Able to use office and telecommunications equipment
  • Walking is required, traveling may be expected at times
  • Ability to communicate in writing and orally
