With the aim of expanding the programs offered in the Nichols Graduate and Professional Studies program, Kerry Calnan became executive director of GPS on July 1st.
“There’s a big growth opportunity in the graduate and professional studies area, and it’s exciting to be part of a demographic in higher education with so much growth potential,” says Calnan, who came to Nichols after developing an entire MBA program over the past two years at Elms College in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
At Nichols, Calnan will be responsible for a population of nearly 800 students, most working towards an MBA, Master of Organizational Leadership degree, or Certificate of Advanced Leadership Studies. Part-time adult students can also earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree through GPS.
Calnan plans to expand GPS offerings in the form of additional certificate programs and through classes delivered by Nichols professors at the site of individual businesses and customized to the needs of those businesses.
This summer, GPS offered courses at several local companies. “It’s been a very collaborative process,” Calnan says, adding that such arrangements will significantly expand GPS’s footprint. “Our team is energized and we’re ready to grow.”
