  5. Nichols College Donates Funding for Dudley Fire Department’s Safety Training Equipment

    Each year, Dudley fire officials visit the Nichols College campus to teach fire safety to students and staff. Training covers cooking safety, general fire safety, and how to properly use fire extinguishers. Donated by Nichols, the new BullEx Intelligent Training System Trainer’s Package will enhance the department's fire safety program and give trainees a better comfort level and understanding of extinguishers with hands-on training.

  12. New Nichols College Counterterrorism Master’s Degree Focuses on Strategies to Combat Terrorism, Violent Extremism

    Nichols College has launched a leadership-focused graduate program in counterterrorism studies developed for those pursuing careers in the fields of intelligence, public policy, and security. It is the first graduate program in the United States to exclusively focus on violent extremism. Through an innovative, in-class and online experience students will learn from counterterrorism experts the factors contributing to the radicalization process of violent extremism, and explore strategies to counter both terrorism and violent extremism. Nichols faculty saw a need to create this program for students once the federal Department of Homeland Security stressed the importance of countering violent extremism as a top priority for the United States. 

  13. Nichols College Professor Selected to Participate in National Seminar on the ‘20th Century Presidency’

    Nichols College Assistant Professor of History Erika Cornelius Smith, Ph.D., is one of a select group of faculty members from across the United States chosen by the Washington, D.C.-based Council of Independent Colleges and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History to participate in a special American history seminar on “The 20th Century Presidency.” The multidisciplinary seminar for faculty members in history, political science, and related fields will explore characteristics of 20th century presidential leadership, including several individual presidents and their presidencies.

    The decision to buy Dudley Hill Golf Club was a strategic one for the long-term benefit of Nichols College. For years, the Nichols golf team has practiced and played there. Nichols annual alumni golf and other fundraising tournaments are also hosted at the club. With the purchase, students studying a variety of business fields at Nichols may have the opportunity for hands-on work experience at the facility.

  20. Rare Torah Scroll to Be on Display at Nichols College

    A 500-year-old Torah scroll that survived the Holocaust and evacuation from Germany to Israel during World War II will be on display Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Nichols College. Nichols is the first place in New England to host this exhibit, according to the scroll’s guardian, Ratio Christi, a nonprofit organization with more than 200 college and university chapters across the country. The exhibit will start at 7 p.m. in Daniels Auditorium on the Center Road campus. It is free and open to the public.

As diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba thaw, the book examines the experiences of private U.S. citizens on Cuba’s Isle of Pines to show how American influence adapted and endured in republican-era Cuba.
