Congratulations to eight Nichols first-year students who were awarded a $4,000/year scholarship from Marilyn and Gerald Fels of Webster, Massachusetts, including: Courtney S. Ballou; Nicole M. Baarda; Rebecca L. Cobb; Annaleisa Hackenson; Nicole T. Latti; Matthew L. Leblanc; Pedro J. Villegas; and Gerardo Villegas.
Gerald Fels, who commuted to Nichols College, wants to make sure that Dudley and Webster residents aspiring to attend college are financially supported. The value of a Fels commuter scholarship is $16,000.
The purpose of financial aid at Nichols College is to assist students with the cost of private education. "Nichols is grateful to Marilyn and Jerry Fels for their continued support of area commuting students," states Thomas Cafaro, Vice President for Enrollment & Marketing. "These scholarships are vital in helping area residents further their education."
To be considered for a Marilyn and Gerald Fels Scholarship, a student must be a resident of the Town of Dudley or Webster, be accepted to the College, and file a FAFSA application for financial aid. Gerald Fels is Director & CEO of the Webster, Mass.-based The Commerce Group, Inc., the leading auto insurer in Massachusetts. He earned a Nichols B.S.B.A. in Accounting in 1966 and M.B.A. in 1973, and serves as trustee emeritus of the College's Board of Trustees.
