Nichols College will offer a Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies this fall 2008 to students who have already earned a master's degree in a business-related field. The non-degree program is designed to provide professional managers with advanced graduate study and will require 18 credit hours of coursework.
Accepted students to the Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies Program must complete three classes in a leadership core, which includes: The Ethical Leader; Global Leadership; and Leadership Priorities: Maintaining Balance & Creativity. Three additional elective courses must be chosen from the following: Financial Management for Non Profits, Marketing Strategies, Change & Innovation Management, Negotiation & Conflict Management, and Creative Decision Making.
The Certificate is also designed to be taken in conjunction with the Nichols M.B.A. program, thus providing candidates with another credential for moving up the management ranks. An M.B.A. student may choose electives that meet both M.B.A. and Certificate requirements and thereby, receive a Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies by taking only the leadership core, or three additional classes.
"Nichols' Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies will help leaders hone their skills on leadership, organizational innovation and value systems, so that they can advance their careers," says Director of Academic Programs Rayanne Drouin. "Our program also gives students an opportunity to network with other leaders during the completion of coursework."
All coursework is offered through Nichols Graduate & Professional Studies Department and may be taken online, at the College's main Dudley campus or at convenient locations in Auburn and Worcester. Students can also choose "hybrid" classes that combine both online and on-campus classes.
