Delegations from China and Sweden are visiting Nichols College this summer to exchange ideas with U.S. educators. It is part of a strategic path set by Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Ezat Parnia to bring increasing numbers of international students to the Dudley campus and collaborate on programs of mutual interest.
The first group from Shandong University of Science and Technology, P.R. China, toured the campus on June 8th. Another group, comprised of seven professors from Märlardalen University and five high school teachers, all from Sweden, met in informal discussion with Nichols professors on July 25th in the Currier Center.
Nichols academic programs are increasingly emphasizing leadership and scholarly activities surrounding global business issues. Students will have an opportunity to travel to China in spring 2008 for international business experience, including a 13-day visit to the cities of Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai, as well as trips to local high tech and pharmaceutical companies, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.
As one of only 15 freestanding undergraduate business schools in the country, Nichols is nimbly responding to the market it serves. The College has 32 full time and 150 practitioner professors, and offers high-quality undergraduate and graduate business programs, on campus and online, to students from all walks of life. Alongside Nichols growing adult education program, its day-student population has reached a record number this year, up from 950 last year to an expected 1,100.
