PDS1 Library Week

During Week 4 of PDS1 you will visit the library in order to meet the librarians, become familiar with the library building and website, and learn about all the resources that are available to you as a Nichols student.

Homework to be Completed for Week 4
When you visit the library during Week 4 of PDS1, you will be using a variety of library resources to help you do some research on a famous musician or rock band. In order to prepare for the project it is important that you know some of the basics about how to navigate the library and the library's website. The librarians also want to learn about you and your research skills.

Please download and complete the homework that is linked here and bring the completed sheet to the library with you during your Week 4 visit. The page will be handed in to Matthew Haggard, the librarian who will be working with your class. The homework will count toward your PDS1 grade.

If You Missed Library Week...
Because the Library Week is worth 10% of your grade for PDS1 it is important that you make up the work if you were unable to attend during the regularly scheduled class. There are several things that you will need to do in order to make up the class that you missed:

1. Complete the homework assignment above.
2. Complete your own self-guided tour of the library building, then download and complete the worksheet that is linked here: SELF-GUIDED LIBRARY TOUR (WORD file).
3. Download and complete the worksheets linked here. During class students completed "mini research projects" on various musicians and rock groups (Nirvana, Madonna, Elvis, etc.). The worksheets here are similar to what the students completed in class. YOU MUST COMPLETE THIS ON YOUR OWN. INVESTIGATING CONANT LIBRARY: A MINI RESEARCH PROJECT (Six page WORD file).
4. You will also need this to complete step 3: FINDING BOOKS IN CONANT LIBRARY(WORD file)
   

Hand in all work to your PDS1 instructor or to Matthew Haggard, Instructional Services Librarian. Matthew can be found at the library's Research Assistance Desk or in his office on the top floor of the library.
