For articles from LexisNexis:
Since it has no durable link technology, the next best thing, after locating a desired article in LexisNexis is to save it in a text format and then import the content into a courseware page.

  1. From the search results list, click on the title of a full-text article
  2. Looking at the screen shot below, in the far right side you’ll see the tabs for “print” and “e-mail”. Click on the “print” tab. This will re-format the article when it is shown full-text on the screen. It will strip out all of the graphics so you will get a nice, clean looking version of the article, suitable for downloading as a text file.

3. Once you have the full-text article displayed on the monitor, use the basic windows FILE/SAVE AS technique to save the article to your local or network drive. There are two IMPORTANT steps to follow here.

4. One, change the default “save as type” from HTML to TXT.

5. Two, give the save file a basic file name and give it the .txt extension (no spaces or symbols should be in the file name).

6. Insert text link into WebCT course page.

7. Check the link to make sure it works.

8. Add a note reminding/informing students they will need a username/password issued by the Library in order to access the ebook. They may contact Jim Douglas at jim.douglas@nichols.edu or Matthew Haggard at matthew.haggard@nichols.edu.

The Library subscribes to e(lectronic)books from two vendors, ebrary and netLibrary.

Please note: To access the Library's e-books users need
  1. to obtain a username/password (the same can be used to access our article databases) and
  2. special 'readers' (software applications) from each vendor. See instructions below.

Linking to Guides to Resources

The Library reference staff have developed information resource guides for most disciplines/majors at Nichols College. Each guide provides an annotated list (with links) of selected print and online sources of information. Guides for specific courses can also be developed. Students often find these very useful as starting places when doing research. To see what is currently available please go to http://www.nichols.edu/library/findinfo/resourceguides/index.html

To link to one or more of these guides, go to the specific guide(s), copy the URL from the Address Box in your browser and paste it into your course page.
