PC Purchase Plans

Nichols College has partnered with Lenovo to provide a good quality computer system at an affordable price. Students have the ability to choose from several different laptop and desktop configurations.  The PC purchase transaction is strictly between Lenovo and the student.

Due to the fact that Lenovo Group has partnered with the IBM PC division, references to Lenovo will be noted on the web site.  This partnership is a change of ownership, not a change of product. The IBM PC has been manufactured for IBM by Lenovo for a number of years.

Configure-to-Order

Lenovo has updated their web portal this year with a new "Configure-to-Order" environment.  "Configure-to-Order" gives students the ability to select from several different options to personalize their laptop or desktop.  With immediate price updating, configuring the perfect system at the perfect price is easy.

Lenovo ThinkPads Notebook Configurations

All systems below deliver outstanding performance, full functionality and long battery life in an easily portable, thin-and-light design. All systems come with a manufacturer's 3 year base warranty. However, Nichols College recommends purchasing the optional ThinkPad Protection, which also covers accidental damage (spills and drops).

R61 Series ThinkPads - Recommended for students who want a low cost system.

T61 Series ThinkPads - Our recommended choice of ThinkPads which offers a perfect balance of performance and portability.  Students may choose between a 14" or 15", WIDESCREEN or standard display.

X61 Tablet - Recommended for students who like to use a laptop as a notepad (you can turn the LCD over onto the keyboard and write with a stylus).  PLEASE NOTE:  Optical drives (CD Writer or DVD) must be purchased separately.

Lenovo ThinkCentre Desktop Configurations

M57 ThinkCentre - a good quality desktop at an affordable price, which fits nicely on the desks in the residence halls.  

A61 ThinkCentre - Recommended for students who want a low cost desktop.  This desktop features the AMD processor.

Nichols College suggests also purchasing a 17" LCD Flat Panel monitor.
