Teaching Philosophy / Goals

When I came to Nichols College, I brought an amalgam of experience in law, college instruction and private and public sector law enforcement. Today, prospective students require balanced instruction that combines the value of "real" world experience and the challenge of academic rigor and research.

I was employed for ten years in the private security industry. I ascended the ranks from Officer to Account Supervisor. After Law School I was admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts and was appointed an Assistant District Attorney in the Worcester District Attorney's Office. As an ADA I spent five years trying cases in front of judges and juries in several fields. Those fields included the prosecution of public officials, high tech crimes, drug and firearms cases, financial crimes and juvenile offenders.

I am presently involved in several professional activities including appointment as a Council Member of the ASIS (American Society of Industrial Security) Academic Programs Council, and election as the community liaison for the Tri-Epic Regional Emergency Planning Committee. There, I work closely with public and private emergency management officials in the areas of all hazard planning, pandemic and health related threat assessments, and general community and institutional risk assessments.

Interests
I enjoy traveling, reading, listening to music and science-fiction.

Courses I Teach
As Program Chair, I teach at least one section of all courses offered by the Criminal Justice Managment Department. I also teach a section of Business Law.
