Globalization, rapid changes in technology, increasing diversity and the prominent role of the media are just a few examples that continue to emphasize the importance of effective communications in our world today. Our individual success requires successful communications as an individual, as a team member, as a member of an organization and as a citizen in a global environment and all of these arenas require different skill sets. Examining the current environment and the events taking place around us by applying communication skills and theories assists every individual in achieving their personal goals.

As a business professional I was in the training and development field for a number of years. I loved being in the classroom in that environment, and it has been a natural transition for me to move to the classroom in an academic setting. Many of the skills and topics I teach at Nichols were topics I covered in a classroom in a business environment, and I enjoy demonstrating to students how the information they are receiving is pertinent in both environments.

I am a recreational runner and I enjoy being outdoors, especially at the beach. I enjoy going to movies and shows. At this time, my favorite show is "Wicked", but that could change as I have a list of 'must sees' for the future. Although I never thought I would admit it, I have become a soccer mom for the time being. I have two daughters who play quite a bit, and it seems I've been to most towns in Massachusetts to see a soccer game.
