Teaching Philosophy / Goals

I came to Nichols in 1966 and retired in 2005. As an emeritus instructor, I play a role in bringing to the classroom a wealth of experience, both academic and practical. Nichols encouraged and fostered my law career by allowing me to practice law to bring a realistic approach to the academic world.

I served as the town public defender for three years. During that period I tried over 300 criminal cases. For twenty-five years I practiced civil law and federal court practice. I have been admitted to the Massachusetts Bar, the Federal Bar and allowed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.

My hobby is history, and my second Master's degree is a Master of Arts in History from Assumption College. I am also a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the history national honor society, and I have taught a number of history courses on the college level.

Interests

My interests include reading biographies and military history. I also have an avid interest in William Shakespeare and his plays. My college and post-college interest was drama, acting and directing. I relax by lifting weights in my home gym with county and western music playing.
