Teaching Philosophy / Goals

I began my career in higher education in 1975 and started working for Nichols College in 1985. I have had the opportunity of holding or supervising most Student Affairs and Academic Affairs positions in higher education. Along with these positions, I have also had the opprtunity to teach. I love teaching and working with all students but especially first-year students.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, I have a fondness for New England. I earned my PhD degree from the University of Connecticut, my CAGS and BS degree from Worcester State College, and my MA degree from Eastern Michigan University. Having worked at both large and small colleges, I prefer working at a small college. The challenges and experiences are endless, but the opportunities and rewards are priceless.

At Nichols College, my responsibilities as Assistant Dean for Learning Services includes working with students who have learning differences, teaching a College Success course for students in academic difficulty, and supporting the full-time faculty in their advising role with students. I am a memeber of the Teacher Educator Committee and I teach Psychology and Sociology in both the day and Graduate and Professional Studies programs.

"I believe that education is a life-long process. I like when students learn for the sake of learning. I enjoy learning from my students. These thoughts guide me as I teach in the classroom and work individually with each student."
