ORIENTATION CHECK-IN
When you arrive on campus, please go directly to Shamie Hall where you will be staying overnight.  There will be signs posted along Center Road to direct cars to appropriate parking areas.  Check-in will be held outside the residence hall facility between 8:00 am and 8:45 am (rain location will be inside Shamie Hall).  The first program of the day will begin at 9:00 am.  Late arrivals should go to the Admissions Building to receive assistance.  There will be a light breakfast served prior to the first session.  If you require something more substantial in the morning it would be wise to eat something before arriving on campus.

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS
While attending Orientation in June, you will stay in Shamie Hall (triple occupancy).  Staying overnight is a requirement of the program.  You must bring a sleeping bag or blanket, bath linens, toiletries, comfortable clothes, and an alarm clock.  This is a great opportunity to experience on-campus living first-hand and to check out where you might be living next year!  For those of you who plan to commute in the fall, you will have the chance to meet and spend time with your classmates.

ORIENTATION ROOMMATE ASSIGNMENTS All room assignments for Orientation are temporary; they have been randomly arranged for one night only.  No roommate requests will be honored during Orientation; students are assigned randomly to groups and will be housed within those groups.  All students will be housed with two other students.  Commuter students are also required to stay overnight.

EMERGENCY CONTACT
Please be advised that all students attending orientation will be asked to turn off their cell phones for the entire program.  All members of the Nichols Orientation professional staff will be on duty throughout the sessions.  Urgent messages can be relayed to students by calling Public Safety at (508) 949-0737.  The officer on duty will locate a member of the Orientation Staff so that he/she can relay the message to the appropriate recipient.

OUTSIDE COMMITMENTS
Attending sessions on both days of the program is crucial since you will be asked to fill out important paperwork and will be registering for classes.  We ask that you make every effort to remain on campus throughout the entire program.  If this is impossible, please contact Heather Barbour, Director of Student Activities & Orientation (heather.barbour@nichols.edu) to make arrangements before Orientation.

ORIENTATION TEAM
The Nichols College Orientation team will be prepared to work with you during your time here on campus.  The staff is made up of professional staff members, student Orientation Leaders, parent Orientation Leaders, and a Logistics Team.  The Orientation Leaders will be able to answer your questions and serve as great resources to Nichols College.  You will meet your OL when you arrive on campus.
