This community will provide a living opportunity for students of all class years and is a special place for students interested in improving and maintaining their whole being through a holistic wellness program. We currently house the Wellness Lifestyle Community on the third floor of Shamie Hall but this may change depending on need/student requests.
Although there is already a strong expectation that all residence hall rooms and public spaces comply with all federal, state, and college regulations related to the use or possession of alcohol and other drugs, the Wellness Floor would offer an additional measure of support for those individuals who choose not to drink or use drugs.
Substances are defined to include alcohol, cigarettes, and other smoking materials as well as all illicit drugs. Students living on this floor must sign an agreement indicating their willingness to abide by special policies and to support the goals of the floor. Students who choose to violate this agreement will may be required to relocate to any availabel room on campus.
Special emphasis is placed on activities, which help students learn how to define and fulfill their personal needs and help others in the wellness dimensions. On the floor, residents work together to achieve new levels of awareness and wellness. This helps students excel while in college, and builds the foundation for a healthy life afterwards.
