IMPORTANT POINTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Students must be able to read, speak and write English fluently. Proficiency in English may be met by achieving scores of 213 (computer) /550 (written) or better on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or through study at an approved English language school, or acceptable scores on either the SAT or the ACT tests, or by other methods documenting your fluency in English.
Information on TOEFL test dates and locations may be obtained by writing to TOEFL, P.O. Box 6151, Princeton, New Jersey 08541-6151 U.S.A. or by visiting their website at http://www.toefl.org/. Please note: TOEFL should be taken within one year of the program start.
Nichols has a partnership with the Olin Center in Boston, Mass., to help our English as a Second Language (ESL) students. To learn more, visit http://www.olincenter.com/.
International students are required by the Department of Homeland Security to maintain a full-time status, taking 12 credits in an undergraduate program or 9 credits in a graduate program each term (fall, spring, summer). Only in the final term of study may a student take fewer credits. By law, Nichols College must notify the Department of Homeland Security if any student takes fewer credits, is not in good academic standing, does not enroll, or otherwise does not meet all requirements.
Massachusetts State law requires that every student enrolled in a course load that is equivalent to at least 3/4 full-time enrollment (9 credits) participates in a qualifying student health insurance program or in a health benefit plan with comparable coverage. The rate for 2008-2009 term is $1,400.
The application fee of $25 may be submitted in the form of an international money order or bank draft or your may apply on-line and the fee is waived.
Letters of recommendation, essay, and transcripts must be submitted in English.
When all of the above information has been received, our International Counselors will consider your application for admission and contact you directly.
Visa: You cannot apply for a student visa until you have been officially accepted. Before you can start that process, we will ask for financial documentation related to Nichols program expenses. You may find these links helpful: http://www.unitedstatesvisas.gov/; http://travel.state.gov/
