The 2008 final mass balance forecast is for a positive glacier mass balance in 2008,  according to  PDO and ENSO  which have been consistently negative during the winter season.

Loss of glacier volume since 1984, represents 20-40% of entire glacier volume.

Glacier runoff is measured both on the glacier surface and beyond the terminus of the glaciers.

 
The former Lewis Glacier after melting away.  Of the 107 glaciers we surveyed in 1984, Eight have now melted completely away including the above former glacier near Rainy Pass.
