Password Resets

As the "custodian" for Nichols College information resources, the Information Technology Department has adopted the policy to not change or reset computer passwords without some type of positive identification. This policy is implemented for two main reasons:

  1. It has become necessary to address increasing incidents of electronic identity fraud.
  2. Industry I.T. audits are requiring improved password security procedures.

The below procedures are in place to protect your computer account and personal information.  We have two methods for positive identification which are explained below.

On-Campus Password Resets
  • This requires an individual to be on campus in the Information Technology Department with at least one of the following forms of photo identification:

    • Nichols College ID card
    • Valid driver's license
Remote Password Resets
  • A remote password reset is required when an individual is not able to be present on campus.  To be able to successfully reset a password, Nichols College must have an up-to-date listing of one of the following pieces of information on file:

    • personal e-mail account
    • home phone
    • work phone
    • cell phone

  • If one of the above items is up-to-date and on file then we will reset an account and provide either an e-mail message with the reset account information or perform a call back on a listed phone number.

  • If no information is on file that allows us to perform a password reset, then we may request that you fax a copy of a valid photo ID to the I.T. Help Desk fax number (508-213-2413) and follow up by contacting the main Nichols College IT Helpdesk by viewing our contact information below.
