Assignment descriptions

SPSS LABORATORIES: (9 X 30=270) These reports are based on experiments conducted in and out of class that demonstrate applications of statistics in real-life settings. These labs must be printed. No soft copies or email submissions are accepted. Each SPSS lab is worth 30 points. Each lab will apply the chapter's topic in a real world situation and will require that you use the SPSS software package 14.0. *On projects that require groups, each member of the group will receive the same grade.
FINAL EXAMINATION: (200 points)
The final is given during the scheduled final examination week. The final exam is cumulative and will measure your ability to apply the correct statistical analyses to different situations. *Review sheets and review sessions are offered (see chapter 19 for the format of the final exam). • TERM PROJECT: (200 points)
In keeping with the goal of learning the application of statistics, the term project will focus on testing your ability to apply & integrate your statistical knowledge to "real world" situations. You are given a series of real-world situations and must choose the correct statistical test to run and use SPSS to answer the statistical hypotheses. *Note - this project can serve as an excellent piece in your portfolio!
• HOMEWORK: (656 points)
Each problem is worth set number of points, the SPSS computer problems (in parentheses, p. 4) which are worth 5 points each.
To earn credit on the homework assignments please do the following...

  •  
    • Use pencil and graph paper.
    • Show all steps and include a printout of the SPSS output for the computer problems
    • Please submit your compete homework according to the assignment calendar.
  • GRADING:
    Grades are assigned based on the number of points accumulated during the semester. The total number of points equals 1326.
