Global Warming Course Objective
The goal of this course is for you to develop skills as a researcher by examining the latest research findings on global warming and reporting on these in various assignments. You will obtain an understanding of global warming, how it affect our world and our lives, and how we can better manage to slow future climate change. The end result will be an ability to critically read global warming material and an ability to search, analyze and report key information. This will be accomplished through several assignments.
1) Create a Google Earth Tour on a region sensitive to global warming.
2) Generate a series of excel charts illustrating recent climate change.
3) Present a powerpoint explaining the mechanics and the best solution to global warming.
4) Completion of a research paper incorporating self-generated excel charts and google earth material on a locally specific global warming topic.
5) The term paper will be completed largely in class, where research techniques will be emphasized. A full-length rough draft is due one month before the semester. Repeated iterations of the final draft are allowed.
6) The final research project will be presented in class.
More than 3 absences will be reflected in your grade.
