A Fischer Focus Event

Public Welcome: Free Event/No Charge

The Evolution of Terrorism, A New York City Exclusive: Gerald Sheehan, Retired NYCPD Commanding Officer of the Arson & Explosion Division, Bomb Squad.

During 34 years of service with the New York City Police Department, Mr. Sheehan served the majority of his career as a Commanding Officer of the Arson and Explosion Squad, as well as the Bomb Squad (the oldest and largest in the United States). Mr. Sheehan was a guiding and integral force in both the 1993 and 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. This presentation will provide rare behind-the-scenes footage of what happened within the NYC Bomb Squad Unit during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Further discussion will include how terrorism has evolved over the past few decades and the need for us to stay current in addressing terrorist threats within our society.

For more information, please contact Professor McDowell-Smith. A special thank you to alumnus Dave Weyant for bringing Mr. Sheehan to Nichols.
