CAPE COD, Mass. -- Senior Keith Fink (Easton, Md.) has been named ECAC Northeast Goalie of the Week for the second-straight week. He backstopped the Bison to wins over Franklin Pierce and Westfield State last week, helping Nichols to a 4-0 start on the season, the best since 1977-78.

Nichols College senior Brittney Case (Cambridge, N.Y.) has been named to the 2008 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III New England East All-Region Second Team, as announced Monday. Case, a 2008 All-TCCC First Team selection at back, anchored the Nichols defense as team captain this season.

The Nichols College men’s ice hockey team ran its win streak to four games with a 3-1 win over Westfield State Sunday evening at June R. Levy Rink. The Bison held a 1-0 lead after two periods, and potted a pair of goals less than a minute apart in the third period, sparked by senior Ryan Gervais’ (Chicago, Ill.) first tally of the season.

Tournament MVP Adam Lirette tallied 14 points to lift WPI to a 64-48 victory over Nichols in the championship game of the 2008 Worcester County Classic hosted by Worcester State on Sunday afternoon.  The win gives the Engineers their sixth straight title since the tournament was revived in 2003. Chris Smith (Moosup, Conn.) paced the Nichols attack by corralling a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with eight points. All-Tournament selections Bryan Riley (West Boylston, Mass.) and Chris Paquin (Barre, Mass.) chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Junior Chris Paquin (Barre, Mass.) scored 14 points while freshman Lorenzo Atkins (Gainsville, Fla.) added 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds off the bench to help propel Nichols to a 72-66 victory over Becker Saturday night in the first round of the Worcester County Classic at Lancer Gymnasium.

The Sacred Heart University women’s hockey team defeated Nichols, 6-0, Saturday evening at June R. Levy Rink Saturday evening. Goaltender Melissa Mansfield (Medford, N.Y.) made 45 saves in the loss. Nichols hosts Castleton State on Friday, November 21, at 5:30 p.m.

LEICESTER, Mass. – Nichols College sophomore guard Ashley Robidoux (Milford, MA) had a game high 26 points and 7 rebounds as the Bison defeated the Becker Hawks, 90-47, in women’s basketball action at the Leicester Gymnasium. The Bison improve to 1-0 after the season-opening win.

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Salve Regina University women’s hockey team fought off two Nichols comebacks and scored a power-play goal with 2.4 seconds left in regulation to defeat the Bison, 4-3, in ECAC East hockey action at Levy Rink Friday afternoon. Kayla Robidoux (Cumberland, R.I.) knotted the game early in the third period with a power-play tally, the first on the season for the Bison.

The Nichols College women’s basketball team has been picked second in the 2008-09 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Bison, who received one first-place vote, were selected second with 172 points. Defending TCCC champion Colby-Sawyer College was picked to win the title with 187 points and nine first-place votes. Nichols opens the season Saturday, November 15th with a 1 p.m. game at Becker before returning home to take on Keene State Tuesday at 6 p.m. in its home opener.

The Nichols College men’s hockey team used two third-period power-play goals to defeat Franklin Pierce, 4-2, Wednesday evening at Levy Rink in non-conference action. The Bison saw a two-goal lead erased in the second period before rallying for the pair in the final frame. Will Munson (Corona, Calif.) netted the game-winner, and also had an assist in the game.
