Biography and Teaching Philosophy:
Upon graduation from college in 1984, I was commissioned into the Army as an officer in the Military Police Corps. I have been in the military since 1984 and have served in a variety of assignments and locations throughout the world. I enjoy the military and teaching as I find both occupations challenging and rewarding. I learn something from every class and student with whom I interact. My plan is to use a variety of teaching methods and tools to ensure the online student is fully engaged in learning. I strive to make my courses a unique and enjoyable experience and hope that students gain useful and practical knowledge.
Interests:
I enjoy participating in a variety of physical activities and I try to stay active on a daily basis. When the opportunity arises, I enjoy visiting college campuses and touring the local eateries, bookstores and sports arenas.
Courses I Teach:
CJM 480: Advanced Issues in Criminal Justice - course will emphasize the acquisition of skills, competencies and conceptual (big picture) expertise necessary for successful and effective security management.
GSEC 711: Terrorism and Business - This is a challenging course, designed to take business students out of their comfort zone. This course addresses the threats to and responses by Corporate America triggered by the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks
GSEC 721: Tourism Security - A unique course with an innovative research project. This course addresses the threats to tourism from incidents such as wars, terrorism and civil unrest.
