Biography and Teaching Philosophy:
I have had and extensive and diverse career that includes thirty-four years in the National Guard, experience in the banking and insurance industries as well as in the speculative "dot-com bubble" of the 1990s. In each case, I had "hands-on" management and logistical experience ranging from First Sergeant of a Combat Engine company to Planning and Operations Manager for high volume (250,000 calls per day) contact centers. Additionally, I have owned two businesses.
I changed directions about five years ago and I currently teach 7th grade Social Studies in the Town of Lexington, Massachusetts.
My experience includes tenure at BayBanks, BankBoston, Fleet Bank and Allmerica Insurance. In banking and insurance, I managed departments of analysts, line staff and operational departments. In all cases I managed to be "hands-on", and effectively reached out to other areas of each business. This gave me a well-rounded perspective of what it takes to build a winning team.
Interests:
I am a rabid baseball fan, and, for what may be obvious reasons, I have a strong interest in history. I am interested in history from both academic and nonacademic perspectives. Maps hold a special interest for me. I enjoy fine restaurants and neighborhood eateries. Most importantly, I like to spend time with my family.
