Online Course Readiness Survey

Below is a brief series of questions that may help decide whether online learning matches your personality type and surrounding environment.  

On a scale of 1 to 5 ( 1= least like me, 5= most like me) rate yourself on the following statements:

1. I have a place at home or work with a computer which I can use for extended periods of time with little interruption.
2. I can put together blocks of time which allow me to work uninterrupted.
3. I would describe myself as a person who can work on a project consistently without putting everything off until the last minute.
4. I am not afraid to use technology that is new to me, even though I may have some apprehension.
5. I am independent and self-motivated.  I do not require someone looking over my shoulder to get work accomplished.
6. I am comfortable and clear when communicating via email and voicemail.
7. I am willing to try to solve technical problems by myself or with assistance over the telephone.
8. I am a good organizer.
9. I can easily comprehend and evaluate what I read.
10. I can do research on a topic and write about it.

If most of your answers were 1's or 2's - Your survey results indicate that you should think seriously about whether an online course is right choice for you. Your answers indicate that you might benefit from more face-to-face contact.

If most of your answers were 3's - Your survey results indicate that you are a fairly good match for online instruction, but you should be aware that online courses require a high level of both self-motivation and discipline for students to be successful.

If most of your answers were 4's or 5's - Your survey results indicate that your life situation and learning style make you an excellent match for online instruction.
